Marisol Quiroz
Dr. Marisol Quiroz was promoted to Director of C.A.T.S. Academics in 2020. As Director/Assistant Athletic Director, Marisol is responsible for leading C.A.T.S. Academics and its comprehensive programs that result in the development, retention, and graduation of student-athletes at the University of Arizona. She oversees the implementation and delivery of all support and academic enhancement activities for student-athletes while working collaboratively with colleagues across the university who are developing and delivering comprehensive academic support services to UA undergraduates.
Marisol began working with C.A.T.S. in 2003 as a student-employee and assumed new roles throughout the years, beginning her full-time career as a Learning Specialist in 2006 and then onto various leadership roles in the office. As Senior Associate Director, she was responsible for the Strategic Learning Services (SLS) Program, which includes Learning Specialists, Assistant Learning Specialists, tutorial services, and study halls. The Strategic Learning Services Program assists students with the transition to the university, and academic support is available throughout students’ academic careers.
In 2019, Marisol was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director of C.A.T.S. Academics. In addition to her leadership role with the SLS Program, she supervised senior lead academic counselors, was the lead Learning Specialist for football and men's basketball and had oversight of the internal operations of C.A.T.S. Academics, including day-to-day operations of staff and professional development. Marisol is an active member of the National Association for Collegiate Directors of Athletics and served a recent two-year term as the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) Region V Director, from 2020-2022.
As a Tucson native, Marisol graduated from Salpointe Catholic High School in 1998. She is a Wildcat for Life, graduating from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science degree in Family Studies and Human Development (2001) and a Master's degree in Higher Education (2004). She completed her Doctorate in Higher Education at the University of Arizona in May 2021.
Marisol loves spending times with her family, including her parents, Robert and Lucretia, her sisters, Melinda Godoy and Roberta Stout, her brothers-in-law Chris Godoy and David Stout, and her four nieces, Guiliana and Aubrielle Godoy, and Lucille and Camille Stout
