Instructor Resources

Students sitting around a table in the Student Success District

The University of Arizona is a large institution with many programs, people and departments available to support students.

It is difficult if not impossible to know everything available, but there are resources to support the academic, social, financial, health and wellness factors impacting student success.

We know instructors at the University of Arizona care deeply about our students. Here are some things every instructor can do to encourage student success.

  • Share success resources with your students.
  • Encourage help seeking behaviors, like using SOS or encourage students to by incorporating SOS Resources.
  • Provide them with feedback by using Trellis Progress, the Arizona progress report system.
  • Create a culture that celebrates Growth Mindset through your own experiences, or SSRI materials.
  • Encourage students to connect with you at office hours or during other opportunities outside of class.
  • Learn their backgrounds and tell them your story.   If you were you a first-generation college student, participate in a training to receive materials you can display or share during courses.
  • Encourage connections with other students in the classroom. Help students connect with each other so they can ask each other questions or create community.
  • Support college and institution persistence and completion efforts, participate in the annual Student Success Conference.
