cultivating resilience

How to be Resilient -when it feels like the world is falling apart

It is undeniably a challenging time for everyone and although that cannot be changed, part of being resilient involves focusing on those things that we can control and seeing some of the good that is part of our reality.

  1. Focus on moments of light and joy*
  2. Retrain your brain to pay attention to what you’re grateful for: Identify 3-5 things
  3. Think about what you are able to experience; versus what you are missing out on
  4. Participate in regular relaxation with journaling, meditation and/or mindfulness

Doing these things can help get us through each day and deal with some of the uncertainty we continue to face!

I think it’s important to note however, that sometimes we cannot find anything that feels or seems positive.  If this is the case, I would encourage you to reach out and find support.  Although these times can be isolating, there are numerous resources around campus that can help you and provide you with connection.

You can also visit CAPS to see a list of campus options for mental health support.
