Daily Gratitude Practices

Showing Gratitude to build resilience

Showing gratitude can have a positive impact on your mental health and your resilience.   Showing gratitude does not mean that you are not experiencing difficult times, and does not minimize those experiences.  Instead it allows you to identify some positives in your life when things may not be going great (reframing).

According to Robert Emmons, a professor at UC- Davis, there are two parts to gratitude.

  1. "We affirm the good things we’ve received.
  2. We acknowledge the role other people play in providing our lives with goodness. (Mindful)"

Gratitude Practices

Each day write down, one thing that made you happy, one things someone did for you and a nice thing you did for someone else*.

Mindful has a guide to expressing gratitude, with examples.

At the end of each semester participate in the University of Arizona Gratitude Project
